Technologies
As a leader in nonwoven fabrics and mechanical recycling, the STFI plays a pioneering role in the transformation of the circular economy, including the recycling of high-performance fibres such as carbon fibres. Technical woven and knitted fabrics, the Functionalisation and Digitisation of textile processes, and the use of AI further expand the institute’s technological remit. Building on a scientific foundation, experts develop sustainable ecological solutions for practical application and ensure that the textile products and processes of tomorrow are safe.
The STFI’s pilot plants and laboratories offer a comprehensive portfolio of industrial facilities on an industrial and semi-industrial scale, enabling rapid transfer into industrial processes. Furthermore, the STFI draws on a strong network within the international industry and European research landscape. In this way, long-standing experience forms the basis for the economic success of small and medium-sized enterprises in particular.
Services
With its expertise and keen eye for detail, STFI specialises in textile testing and analysis, as well as in the certification of personal protective equipment (PPE). Offering a comprehensive range of accredited testing services and a passion for supporting the crucial steps involved in obtaining market authorisation for PPE, STFI stands reliably by its partners’ side. As part of the STFI Academy, experienced trainers from the institute share their expertise across the textile value chain to provide training and further education for skilled workers.
