The Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e. V. (STFI) in Chemnitz has been a strong innovation partner and reliable service provider on behalf of its customers since it was founded in 1992. The non-profit institute addresses technical and social issues with an open, interdisciplinary and reliable approach. Textile materials have always characterised our work and will continue to do so in the future. The work at the STFI is diverse and covers topics such as technical textiles, nonwovens, lightweight textile construction, functionalisation, recycling, digitalisation and Industry 4.0. The STFI can also look back on many years of experience and expertise in textile testing and the certification of personal protective equipment (PPE). In the future, the STFI will continue to consistently pursue the path of contemporary and application-orientated research. This is underpinned by the establishment of the Centre for Textile Sustainability. The STFI has been an affiliated institute of Chemnitz University of Technology since 2006. The STFI is also actively involved as a member of more than 40 associations and organisations, in particular the Zuse Association and the Saxon Industrial Research Association (SIG).
